Rednet Control 1.4b3 Released on 03-04-15 18:06

Please note that if you are running RedNet Control on both Mac and Windows PCs with the same RedNet hardware, updating both operating systems to 1.4b is required.

Please be sure to follow all on-screen instructions when running firmware updates.

New Features

• Updated Brooklyn Firmware.
• Brooklyn 1: SW 3.7.1.14/ FW 3.3.8.13
• Brooklyn 2: SW 3.7.1.10/ FW 3.4.8.53
• Updated PCIe firmware to 3.7.1.6
• Updated PCIe driver to: Mac 1.7.5 r20, Windows 1.7.5.1
• Updated Dante Controller to 3.5.6.2
• We found that the vast majority of users preferred routing in Dante Controller rather than RedNet Control. As a result, routing has been removed from RedNet Control, allowing us to focus development and support on adding new features.
Consequently there is no need for host mode which has also been removed.
• When closing RedNet Control, the user will be asked to confirm this action. This prevents inadvertent interruption of an MIDI session which is active.
• Devices will now appear in alphanumeric order.
• DVS & RedNet PCIe will now appear as devices on screen, confirming they are present and correct on the network.
• OS X – RedNet Control will now stay in dock when window is closed.

Important notes:

The new RedNet PCIe driver is only compatible with the latest firmware.
It is important to note that installing new firmware on to any RedNet Unit can take some time, please DO NOT turn the unit off or interrupt the firmware installation - Units will be unresponsive during this process.

RedNet Control 1.4 (BETA) will prompt users to upgrade their firmware to version 885.

Firmware v885 is NOT backwards compatible with RedNet Control v1.3 or earlier.
Additionally firmware older than v885 firmware will not be compatible with RedNet Control 1.4b3.

If reverting back to RedNet Control 1.3 having upgraded to Firmware Version 885 on Mac, the follow actions should be taken to prevent any functionality issues:

Brooklyn-1 Devices (RedNet 1, 2, 3 ,4 & 5):
• Retrieve "rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt" from the RedNet Control 1.4b3 installation.
• Mac: Applications/RedNet Control.app (Right Click "Show Package Contents")
"Contents/Resources/Firmware/Brooklyn/"rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt"
• Windows: Program Files/Focusrite/RedNet Control/Firmware/Brooklyn/"rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt"
• Place the file in a convenient location such as a folder on the desktop.

Brooklyn-2 Devices (RedNet 6 & D16):
• Retrieve "bkn2rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt" from the RedNet Control 1.4b3 installation.
• Mac: Applications/RedNet Control.app (Right Click "Show Package Contents") "Contents/Resources/Firmware/Brooklyn2/"bkn2rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt"
• Windows: Program Files/Focusrite/RedNet Control/Firmware/Brooklyn2/"bkn2rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt"
• Place the file in a convenient location such as a folder on the desktop.

• Retrieve the v763 firmware files as shown above
• Uninstall RedNet Control 1.4b3 before installing RedNet Control 1.3
• Open up RedNet Control
• Right-click on a device, select 'Upgrade Firmware' and navigate to "rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt" or "bkn2rednetfw_763M_regress.dnt", depending on which device you are uploading to
• Repeat this step for all devices
• Allow devices to automatically reboot
• To confirm install has been successful, right-click a device, select 'Get Info' and verify the firmware version matches v763

Known Issues

Defaults message from Pro Tools does not clear linked channels on RedNet 4.

It's possible for RedNet Control GUI to display values of 1–7dB for RedNet 4 when controlled via SysEx. The gain on the unit will still be 0dB or 8dB.

During installation, a dialog can appear from Audinate's "Dante Control and Monitoring Installer" about firewall settings on Windows 8. Please manually confirm your firewall settings allow Dante Control & Monitoring through the firewall.

Important notes:

The new RedNet PCIe driver is not compatible with old PCIe device firmware. Thus the latest version of firmware is required.

RedNet 5 1.1b2 Released on 04-17-13 16:12

RedNet Control version 1.1 beta 2

Notes for Windows users only:

• Unless you Run as Administrator, settings are forgotten between sessions. Please start RedNet Control by right-clicking either the desktop icon or the Start menu icon, then choose Run as Administrator.

Notes for Macintosh users only:

• If RedNet Control is not currently the active window and you try to access the right click menu for a particular RedNet unit, the menu will appear at the bottom left of the screen instead.

• When you turn on a new RedNet unit, the panels for all your existing RedNet units expand.

Issues affecting both platforms:

• If you start RedNet Control in PCIe/DVS host mode, RedNet 5 devices won’t show up if you switch to RedNet 5 host mode. You’ll need to restart RedNet Control.

• PCIe card users will notice that even when RedNet Control starts in PCIe host mode, the top portion of the window will still be reserved for RedNet 5 units. You’ll need to toggle the Host mode to RedNet 5 and then back to PCIe/DVS to get this part of the screen back.

• After switching Host modes you may get an error dialog if you attempt to make any changes to the routing from thereon. Quitting RedNet Control and restarting it will solve this problem.

• The size of the top panel in RedNet 5 host mode is not remembered between sessions or when flicking between host modes.

• For those RedNet 5 users that are making use of the Expansion mode, channels 17-32 won’t grey out when you switch Expansion mode on. You’ll need to collapse the RedNet 5 (press ▼) then expand it again (press ►).
